A series of photographs, captured time in a physical space with the change of the natural light, reflects the theory of relativity by Albert Einstein – the human perception as well as the measurement by instruments such as clocks are different for observers in relative motion. The time presented in the photos is the same time of the final critique in Alexandra Gencarelli’s introduction to digital photography course at RISD. The concept behind the photos is people who attend the critique are stand in the same 3-dimentional Euclidean space, and it combines with time into a 4-dimentional manifold where the spacetime interval between any two events is independent of the inertial frame of reference in which they are recorded. The hierarchy to arrange the photos has combined the terms of traditional artwork and time-based media, which is the artwork that has duration as a dimension, defined by Guggenheim Conservator Joanna Phillips.
